Here at Reder Landscaping we get especially excited at this time of the year.  And it’s not because of Labor Day Weekend, the start of the new school year or the return of N.F.L football.

We’re excited because late Summer and early Fall is the ideal time to plant a new lawn!

Our enthusiasm may seem odd, but we can’t help it.  Our grandfather started Reder Landscaping back in 1965 as a company that specialized in planting the finest lawns in Mid-Michigan, so a passion for beautiful turf is in our DNA.  And even though we’re now a full-service landscape company, we have a lot of pride in our expertise with planting, irrigating and maintaining “Reder Lawns”.

There are several reasons why this time of year is ideal for planting a new lawn.  Cooler temperatures during both the daytime and the night, combined with more rainfall and still adequate sunshine, provide the perfect conditions for germinating grass seed.  However, the biggest advantage to planting a lawn now is that crabgrass and other weeds are dying off this time of year and won’t be competing with the new grass plants.  This means a virtually weed-free lawn can be established in just a few weeks of growing time.

2012 has been a tough year for lawns with the record heat and drought conditions that we’ve experienced this summer.  In our travels around Midland, Saginaw and Bay City we see a lot of lawns that are have just been beaten up this year – even ones that have an irrigation system.

So if you think you’d like to renovate your beat up old lawn, or if your house is new construction and you’re starting from scratch with your lawn, contact us.  Don’t wait, because now is the perfect window of opportunity and our schedule is filling up fast..
