We hope you’ve been able to get outdoors this week because the weather has been perfect. Clear blue sunny skies, perfect temperatures and the beginning of some beautiful fall color.

This is the time of year when the Red Maple Trees start to take on the starring role in the fall landscape here in Mid Michigan.  The Red Maple, or Acer rubrum, is actually a tree for all seasons.  Its typical habitat is in lowlands where water is widely available and it is a very common native tree in many Michigan landscapes. It also has a neat and tidy form that works well when used in designed landscapes or as a street tree, and it’s one of our favorite shade trees here at Reder Landscaping.

Spectacular fall color is why the Red Maple is most valued.  ‘Red Sunset’ and ‘Autumn Blaze’ are two cultivars that do particularly well here in the Midland, Bay City and Saginaw area.

If you’re looking for a beautiful and dependable shade tree for your yard that has something to offer in all four seasons, you should consider a Red Maple.  This is a great time of year for planting trees, and if you contact us to plant one for you now, you can be enjoying your own private show of Red Maple foliage next fall.
